Educational Visit to the European Parliament: Konstantinos in Strasbourg

A learning experience and active participation

Recently, Konstantinos, a volunteer with Aegean Echoes towards Empowerment and Sustainability, took part in a school educational trip to the European Parliament in Strasbourg. For a young person, a visit like this is much more than a day out of the classroom; it is a direct look at how democracy works in practice and how decisions made at the European level shape everyday life.

What the visit included

During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the space and understand how the Parliament operates: a guided tour, an introduction to the role of European institutions, observing procedures, and discussions on how policies are shaped around topics such as education, the environment, rights, and social cohesion.

Konstantinos described the experience as something that “makes you think differently”:

• “Seeing up close and personal where and how the decisions that shape our everyday life are made really gives you a broader view of the complexity of the European Union”

• “This visit helped me shape my views regarding the functions of Europe and answered many of my questions as to how I can come closer to the European Union as a whole”
